DescriptionA global supplier of plastic resins and compounds widely used in automotive, healthcare, consumer electronics, transportation, performance packaging, building and construction, telecommunications and optical media applications has an immediate need for a Production Engineer Chemical Operations. The company manufactures and compounds polycarbonate, ABS, ASA, PPE and more. Our resin is produced in a pressure controlled environment. We use centrifugation and steam drying to complete our process for compounding and sale to external molding or compounding customers.
Responsibilities:
Establish Performance Gap triggers, coaching the operations team on Performance Gap resolution
Ensures Business Line, Operations and Supply Chain are fully coordinated, includes coordinating the production plans and outage production planning
Converts Business Plan to daily operations plan and communicating the plan to the operations team
Provides technical expertise in the daily operations of the unit; assists Operators in resolving gaps between production versus plan
Provides troubleshooting expertise
Ensures operating plan and reliability issues are coordinated
Analyzes and allocates production losses
Obtains the current margin values and updates the Maximum Asset Capability and margin values in the Asset Availability database
Supports Asset Reliability work process, ensures operating plan, PPM plan and reliability issues are coordinated
Helps define manufacturing strategy based on variable cost, mix and service requirements; define, execute, and track materials and energy usage budget
Requirements:
Bachelor in Engineering required, Chemical Engineering preferred
Minimum of 3 years engineering experience
Thorough understanding of unit operations, process equipment and technology
Understanding of the sales and operations planning process; production system capabilities and limitations; and knowledge of the different conversion costs associated with product mix
Ability to use simple statistical tools for data analysis such as fish bone, histogram, Pareto charts, etc.
Ability to collect relevant data, history trends, and process information, RCA results and other data to identify or troubleshoot process problems
Ability to use in depth analysis and structured methodology to identify the true root causes of a situation or event
