Job Description
A leading manufacturer of high-performance, blow molding machinery and single screw plastic extruders, has an immediate opening for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer. Our client has the latest technologies and design innovations. Their blow molding machinery combines existing technology and well designed concepts. BASIC FUNCTION :Perform engineering duties in planning and designing machines, tools and other mechanically functioning equipment
Duties/Essential Job Functions
• Plan, execute, and finalize engineering projects according to deadlines and budget.
• Skills/knowledge of blow molding and extruder system designs and functionality in order to have technical competency
• Apply quantifiable engineering principals to mechanical, fluid, electrical and software systems
• Complete projects to support business goals
• Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
• Effectively communicate project status to team members in a timely and clear fashion.
• Work closely with Manufacturing and Sales group to identify product development and business strategy opportunities.
• Participate in customer visits and sales calls to conduct technical presentations and product demonstrations to customers
• Work with machinist and fabricators to design for quality and cost effectiveness
• Identify materials and manufacturing processes to insure proper materials are being utilized with proper cost effectiveness.
• Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
• Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
• Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
• Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
• Communicate activities with departments and work together to address customer equipment design issues and new sales opportunities.
Equipment Used
• PCs and associated peripheral equipment. Microsoft applications as well as various 3rd party applications/utilities.
• Cellular telephone
• Microsoft Project Management, CAD and 3D Modeling software
Minimum Qualifications
• B.S. Degree Engineering and/or related education and/or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge and understanding of information technology systems and their applications in manufacturing shop floor control environments and plastic blow molding & extrusion environments.
• 5 Years experience in project and/or applications engineering in extrusion or blow molding industry.
• Ability to work overtime as required to meet project deadlines
Excellent communications skills (verbal, written, interpersonal and presentation) with ability to work with all levels of organization.
• Excellent problem solving skills with good business judgment and decision making abilities.
• Self directed with excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work well with others
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering with at least 7 years Design of Capital Equipment
Experience with plastics processing, blow molding machinery preferred
must be proficient , Solid Works & AutoCAD
