Plan, direct, and coordinate plastic injection molding processes. Processes may also include assembly and testing.
Utilize sound engineering judgement and scientific molding concepts in planning new processes and the improvement of existing processes using PFMEA methodology.
Utilize both internal and external resources to develop and validate implementation plans prior to implementation of project changes.
Support product development and process/tooling design to ensure efficient production methods.
Estimate production times, staffing requirements, related costs and identify applicable lessons learned as inputs to new product cost estimation in support of new business acquisition.
Develop machine and process specifications, complete supplier sourcing, and complete capital purchase of new equipment through validation and handover to production.
Evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.
Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
Apply analytical thinking and data analysis to develop and execute sound validation of change impacts to product quality, delivery, cost, and safety.
Effectively communicate to team shareholders and when necessary escalate to ensure efficient removal of obstacles.
Applies statistical methods to estimate manufacturing capabilities to meet future requirements, improve current processes, and develop tools and standards to support shop floor autonomy.
Lead cross-functional team activities to identify top issues, plan and implement appropriate corrective actions, and track and validate effectiveness.
Acts as a value stream leader for the processes assigned.
BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Plastic Processing.
4 years minimum experience in an injection molding engineering role with direct responsibility for injection molding process and applied experience to plastic material chemistry.
RJG Master Molder II or equivalent.
Thorough understanding of scientific molding concepts.
Tier 1 automotive experience.
Experience with robot programming.
Application experience with lean tools similar to Value Stream Mapping, Kanban system design and implementation, Total Predictive Maintenance.
Application experience with structured problem solving techniques/tools.
Application experience with MS Project.
