Film & Materials Business Manager – Processing and Packaging
My client is a leading manufacturer of high quality plastic packaging machinery. They have been in business for over 50 years and specialize in food packaging and healthcare machinery, form-fill-seal, traysealers, chamber machines, and turnkey production lines. This is an international organization, continuing to grow and be a leading supplier here to the United States. They have over 300 employees and are doing around $200 million in revenue annually. The sales of packaging equipment has been successful and they are currently in a huge growth curve, over 50% in employment and expanding their manufacturing, and are in need of an expert of their film materials business.

Your unique role with the company:
will be to drive supply chain management for the film and materials business for the company. They supply film to their customers along with their equipment for turnkey systems in food packaging. They are in need of an expert who truly understands packaging films and their applications for their customers to help drive down costs with suppliers, risk management, and qualifying new suppliers and new materials. This hybrid role will interact with all areas of the business, strongly supporting both the sales team, the marketing team, and the new product development team for better quality of products and solutions for customers. This role will have a small team that directly reports to them.
To be successful in this role:
Bachelors Degree – Engineering, Packaging, Chemistry, Marketing, Business, etc.
understanding of packaging films – especially for food (meat, poultry, etc.)
Demonstrated experience in driving cost containment in the supply chain
Strong communication and customer service background and experience in working with customers – could have been in a Sales Engineer, Marketing, or Engineering function that understands cost savings and knows the suppliers
Success in managing multiple projects and working with multiple departments cross functionally
This position is located in Kansas City, MO. Kansas City is a beautiful area known for sports, arts, culture, museums, and entertainment. They have a pretty reasonable low cost of living and good schools. Great place to live and raise a family. As for career longevity there, Kansas City is home to a lot of manufacturing companies and a stable place for someone in a Controls position!
