Company: Our client is a leading provider into the polymer industry that develops a full range of Thermoplastic & Thermoset compounds, Additives and Masterbatches. These materials go into a wide range of markets spanning form Wire& Cable, Pipe & Fittings, Building & Construction, Film & Sheet, and other specialty markets. These products span from PP, PE, PU, Nylons, Polystyrenes, TPE and more. My client has over 20 years experience in the industry and has gone through significant growth over the years through strategic acquisition as they continue to diversify their product lines.

Your unique role with the company: Reporting to the CEO, the person appointed to this key position will take overall responsibility for driving all aspects of their Technological activities. You will have 6 direct reports and 23 indirect reports. This is a leadership role with critical input on team creation, policy formation, project execution and resource allocation. The individual will partner across the Business, Technology, Sourcing, and Operations organizations in 3 separate company locations, 2 domestic and one in the UK. Your duties will be to resource and drive projects, provide Technical Service support and improve quality systems. As they grow our product portfolio, this position will have a major role in selecting investment in and deploying new internal laboratory facilities and identifying and resourcing appropriate external partner activities (Universities and laboratories). You will ensure the Technology team continuously upgrades their skills in such items as DOE, protecting IP, polymer characterization, compound process ability, etc.

What we are looking for in a Candidate:
  • Ph.D or possibly MS Degree Polymer, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in Wire & Cable
  • Strong experience in compound development in plastic or rubber field
  • Solid exposure to polymer or compound development in other markets; for example, Automotive or Building materials
