Design Engineer - Thermoforming
Company:  My client is a well-known leader in custom food packaging solutions. You see their products in many markets like food processor packaging, food service solutions, and even retail! They are innovative and apply state-of-the-art technology to allow them have a heavy focus on customer satisfaction. This a privately held company growing organically from 15-30% every year! They have just doubled their size and capabilities as they were acquired by a private investment group and joined forces with several sister companies, bringing them to a total of 4 plants in the US and 450 employees. This investment group takes mid-size organizations and gives them the expertise and pockets to help support and launch them into the next generation for the company. We are in need of a strong engineer in design, looking for a chance to grow and learn more about the thermoforming industry.

Your unique role with the company will be part of the small design team, reporting directly to the Director of Product Development. This is a hands-on opportunity, highly visible role working with customers, responsible for the product design layout and quality assurance for thermoformed prototypes and production activities. This role is dual hatted and allows you to work with several areas throughout the organization such as sales, quality and manufacturing. You will use your technical expertise in being able to ask the right questions to create the customer’s desired vision or help resolve their problems. You will put together new product offering presentations for your customers. This role will determine the feasibility of product proposals while preparing any design modifications required.
To be successful in this role:
  • Technical Degree is preferred but will consider industry experience
  • 2-3 years experience with thermoforming, injection molding, or blow molding product design
  • Strong experience with Solidworks or other CAD software
  • Comfortable being in front of customers, and comfortable working with a team
  • Good communication skills with a willingness to learn
This position would be located outside of Boston, MA. Boston is known for their beautiful, historic city and full of entertainment, arts and culture. You will be very close to several beautiful beaches as well. It is a strong area for manufacturing both plastics and consumers goods so allows a lot of room for career growth as well.
