Seeking a talented Commodity Manager to lead the strategic sourcing and related vendor negotiation/management for all assigned commodities and services. This person will partner with manufacturing operations to ensure appropriate inventory levels and order quantities for assigned commodities to support an industry leading manufacturing operation.
It is critical that this person be capable of handling day-to-day procurement tasks while establishing long-term relationships with strategic suppliers and managing supplier agreements, contracts, terms, and volume rebates; as well as adhering to quality standards and scorecard requirements.
  • 4-year degree in Supply Chain Management or related business field and required.
  • APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certificate in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), or ISM Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) designation required (current or in progress).  
  • 3-5 years of experience in strategic sourcing of plastics and resins; planning RFQs; and supporting make vs. buy decisions.
  • Experience establishing and managing long-term supplier agreements; contract, terms, and volume rebate negotiations; vendor relations, scorecards and quality management.
  • Familiarity with or experience in packaging sourcing and transportation and logistics contracts preferred. Ability to expand into other supporting commodity/service sourcing, such as packaging, transportation/logistics, coatings and ink, and sheet metal, including aluminum, steel and tinplate.
  • Ability to develop and implement formalized, metrics-based purchasing processes.
  • High level of emotional intelligence and record of establishing effective working relationships and building team consensus to successfully lead and innovate.
  • Effective communicator capable of articulating concepts clearly and credibly across all organizational levels.
  • Strong business acumen and global sourcing perspective.
  • Ability to identify areas for improvement and initiative to implement changes that reduce cost while increasing quality, efficiency and reliability.
  • Results-driven with high initiative, and able to work independently, run multiple projects amid changing priorities, and effectively manage time and resources.
