| SUMMARY: |
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer plans and directs activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for plant production processes, materials, and products by performing the following duties. |
| ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: |
Responsible for performing calibration functions on all testing and measuring equipment throughout the manufacturing process. Develops, maintains and monitors the customer system for customer reported quality issues. Primary contact for customer assigned programs internally and externally. Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation. Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data. Establishes program to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities. Develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility. Must have working knowledge of TS 16949. Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability. (Plant operators conducting SPC) Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality control activities. Must be capable of reading/understanding prints, internal and external. Initiates action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product, process, and quality systems. Identifies and records any problems relating to the product, process, and quality system. (Formal/informal issues) APQP and PPAP, SPC, basic computer skills. Initiates, recommends, or provides solutions through problem solving methodology. Verifies the implementation of corrective actions. Other duties as assigned. |

| EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: |
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; plus one to two years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. |
| LANGUAGE SKILLS: |
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. |
| MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: |
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. |
| COMPUTER SKILLS: |
Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet applications. Must be familiar with internet research and the use of e-mail. |
| REASONING ABILITY: |
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. |
